Welcome back to Term 4 — always filled with a bit of extra energy, sunshine, and an eye on the festive season. I hope all our students enjoyed a relaxing break and have returned feeling recharged and ready to finish what has been a positive year here at Churchill.
There’s something about this time of year that lifts the atmosphere across the campus. The warmer weather and longer days tend to bring out the best in everyone, helping both staff and students stay motivated and engaged as we head into what’s traditionally a busy and rewarding final term.
Across the school, students are beginning to look ahead to the transitions that come with the end of the year — whether that’s preparing for new classes, moving into higher year levels, or taking on new challenges in 2026. Over the past fortnight, we’ve completed PAT assessments in literacy and numeracy for almost all students. These results provide valuable insights that help us understand learning growth, identify areas where extra support might be needed, and ensure our planning and resourcing decisions are based on solid evidence.
As we move further into the term, our focus begins to shift toward transition and preparation for next year. Students in all year levels will soon begin engaging in activities designed to help them build confidence for what lies ahead — whether that’s moving into a new class group, stepping up to a higher year level, or preparing for the shift to senior school.
Some of our incoming Year 7 students have already begun their extra tranistion visits, giving them a chance to familiarise themselves with the campus and meet their teachers. Meanwhile, our current Year 7, 8 and 9 students will start their HeadStart program in early December, moving into their 2026 classes to set goals and get a strong start to the new school year.
It’s always an exciting time across the campus and I look forward to seeing our students finish the year with the same enthusiasm and commitment they’ve shown throughout 2025.
At the completion of last Term, we celebrated the term by engaging in a whole school History Day. The day was a huge hit for staff and students and the festivities were capped off with an unbelievable medieval feast that was prepared and cooked by our amazing staff and students. I want to give a huge shout out to Steph Barfoot who did a fantastic job of recruiting many willing staff helpers to get this event off the ground. It was a wonderful way to end the term.

Our current year 7,8 & 9's will begin their HeadStart period on the 1st of December. This is where our students roll into their 2026 classes with new teachers and new class groupings.
Some year 9 students will identify their desire to transition into a Year 10 Pathways program for 2026. This program is offered and delivered to a select group of 2026 year 9 students that may choose and be suitable to follow an applied learning/trade pathway that is delivered from our senior campus. Our current year 10 students have started to engage in the process of course and subject selection for their time next year at the University campus. This is an exciting and important time in their schooling and the first really significant milestone in their pathway to their future career.
As we head toward the end of the school year, I want to thank our staff, students, and families for their ongoing support and contribution to the Churchill Campus community. It’s been a year of progress, positivity, and partnership — and that sense of teamwork is what makes our school such a great place to learn and work.
I hope everyone enjoys the warmer weather and the opportunities it brings to connect, celebrate, and reflect on the year that’s been. Term 4 is always busy, but it’s also one of the most rewarding times in our calendar — a time to acknowledge growth and look ahead with confidence.
