AMAZING ATHLETICS PERFORMANCES
We’ve had a couple of big weeks of athletics with both the Beachside Division and Southern Metropolitan (SMR) Athletics carnivals taking place. Our twenty student squad should be very proud of their efforts and results from the Division carnival, with some fantastic times and distances achieved. Out of our 20 students, we had 9 others that either placed 3rd or 4th.
Well done to:
Joshua S: 4th in 9/10 Boys - 200m
Oliver P: 3rd in 9/10 Boys Triple Jump, by just 2-hundredths of a cm!
Josh S, Lachie C, Jensen O, Oliver P: 4th in their 9/10 Boys 4x100m relay
Emmett H: 4th in 11 Boys Triple Jump
Cooper V: 3rd in 11 Boys Long Jump
Liam L: 4th in 11 Boys Shot Put
Ryder B: 3rd in 12/13 Boys - 800m
We also had 4 of our students do amazingly well and place 1st or 2nd which meant they move onto the next stage of competition! These athletes travelled to Casey Fields Athletics Centre on Wednesday this week to compete once again.
We congratulate all four students for their amazing performances!
Jenson O (4M): 9/10B High Jump
Harper H (4M): 9/10G - 100m
Harper H (4M): 9/10G - 200m
Teddy S (5L): 11B - 80m Hurdles
Sam J (6NT): 12/13B - Discus
All four students gave it their all, however came up against some extremely talented SMR athletes and were unable to get through to States. A huge thank you goes to the 4 students' families that were able to take them out to Cranbourne East for this carnival.
REGIONAL HOOPTIME UPDATE
Last Wednesday our two Senior Future Star teams; the Boys/Mixed Falcons and Future Star Girls ‘Flamingo’s’ team headed out to the State Basketball Centre in Wantirna South to play in their Regional HoopTime final. Both teams had a great day of competitive games, however weren’t able to do enough to make it through to the Qualifying finals. Our boys team played 3 round games, coming away with just the one win, with shooting accuracy their biggest challenge. Our girls team played 4 games over their day, also winning 1 and unfortunately losing the other 3, being out-played by some very talented teams.
A special pre-thank you to parents; Chad T and Eileen B that coached the teams over the day, along with all the support crew that helped score and car-pool these players to the venue! We really appreciate you giving up your day to help out our students.
Next Wednesday it’s our Junior Future Star Fireflies Girls turn to play off in their Regional HoopTime tournament. We wish them all the very best all the very best for this and know they’ll give it their all.
The remaining 3 Regional HoopTime tournament dates are as follows:
Junior FS Girls (Fireflies) (Yr. 3/4's)
Date: Wedn. 28th October (Wk 4). Venue: State Basketball Centre, Wantirna South.
Senior All Star Boys (Yr. 5/6's)
Date: Thurs. 5th November (Wk 5). Venue: Nunawading Stadium, Burwood East.
Junior All Star Boys/Mixed (Yr. 3/4's)
Date: Wedn. 11th November (Wk 6). Venue: State Basketball Centre, Wantirna South.
Good luck to our Year 3&4 Cricket Blast teams!
Wishing our four Year 3 & 4 Junior cricket teams all the best for a fun day out at Lord Reserve in Carnegie for their Dendy Cricket Blast tournament. We hope they have a great day of games. Thanks to all the parents for helping out with the teams and a special mention to Mrs Allen, Miss McKinnon and Alessia for supporting our students also.
