Deputy Principal's Report

Hello!

Somehow we’ve already reached the end of Week 3! Congratulations to all our students on completing the two-week intensive swimming program, and to our families for surviving the mountain of damp towels and chlorine-scented swim bags. We hope your laundry has recovered! While the washing may have piled up, the benefits of this program are enormous. Students have built water confidence, strengthened their swimming technique and learnt vital water safety skills, which are especially important as we head into the warmer months. Just as importantly, they showed real resilience. Getting into the pool nine days in a row and pushing themselves to try new skills took plenty of courage and determination, and we are so proud of the way they faced each challenge. Thank you to everyone who helped make it such a success.

Year 5 Camp - Next Week!

Next week our Year 5 students head off on camp. Even with camp experience behind them, it's completely normal for children (and parents!) to feel a mix of excitement and nerves, as each camp brings a new location, new activities and new challenges. Those butterflies are a sign that something meaningful is ahead. Camp gives students the chance to step outside their comfort zone in a safe, supported environment, where they build resilience, independence and confidence. Sharing a cabin, trying unfamiliar activities and working as a team all help them practise problem-solving, communication and looking out for one another. Parents can help by talking openly about any worries, focusing on what their child is looking forward to, and reassuring them that staff will be there every step of the way. We can't wait to see our Year 5s return with new friendships, fresh skills and plenty of stories to share.

This year the students are heading to Waratah Beach Camp, where they'll enjoy beach games, surf lessons, a ropes course, roasting marshmallows around the campfire and so much more. It's set to be a fantastic few days of adventure, fun and making memories together. A big thank you to Ms. Bourke and Ms. Lennon for all their hard work organising this year’s camp. Your time and effort behind the scenes make this wonderful experience possible for our students.

PBL Focus: Respect – I wear my uniform correctly

Over the next fortnight, our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) focus is all about wearing our uniform with pride! When students wear their uniform neatly and correctly, it shows respect for themselves, our school and each other, and it’s a lovely reminder that we all belong to the St Finbar’s community. With summer uniform now in full swing, a school hat is an essential part of the outfit, and we’ll be encouraging students to remember theirs every day. Families, we’d love your help in cheering them on at home and making sure all uniform items, especially hats, are clearly labelled. If your child needs a new hat, these can be purchased online. Thank you for helping our students look sharp and stay sun smart!

Swimming Promotion

The Danny Frawley Swimming Centre have offered all St. Finbar's families an exclusive offer if you wish to take it up. Please see below.
