Year 1 Excursion to the WA Museum Boola Bardip
Last week the Year 1s went on an excursion to the WA Museum Boola Bardip, which was an engaging and informative experience. In groups they had the chance to explore the fascinating exhibits about the natural world and custodians of country.
One of the highlights of the visit was the educational workshop titled ‘Sharing Stories’ focusing on the creation and care of Noongar Boodja derived from oral histories. This hands-on experience engaged the students in Noongar stories, language, and access to real objects and artefacts. Thank you to all the parent volunteers who helped make this excursion such an enriching experience.
National History Challenge Achievers
Three of our Year 3 students received an award at the 2024 National History Challenge presentation held at Willetton Senior High School. Jet Tsvetnenko, Daniel Spanoghe and Emmett Robinson were awarded a gold medal for their entry, which meant that the team won the State prize in the Years 1–4 group and was included in the judging at National level.
The 2024 National History Challenge was based on the theme ‘Crisis and Response’ and students could choose their own topic.
“I was so surprised we got a gold medal. It was a fun competition because I worked with my friends and we chose our own topic: Pearl Harbour.” Emmett Robinson
