ASC Rowing Club’s End of Season Dinner and Awards Night

This year the ASC Rowing Club celebrated the end of a remarkable season with an extra-special dinner and awards night at Tompkins on Swan. With 90 guests in attendance, the evening was filled with joy, camaraderie and a sense of achievement. The venue and food were exceptional, adding to the overall delight of the event.

Our MC for the night was Leah Collins (Year 11), who did a superb job guiding us through the evening. William Thorne (Year 11) showcased his incredible videographic talents by creating three videos that were shown during the night, celebrating our training, race days and a heartfelt farewell to our Year 12s. Grace was beautifully written and delivered by Autumn Baker (Year 10), setting a reflective and grateful tone for the evening.

Eleanor Burwood (Year 10) delivered a very personal Spirit of Rowing toast, celebrating the special community we have at the rowing club. Her words resonated with everyone, highlighting the unique bond and spirit that define our coaches and club.

Our Head Coach, Mr Nic Tejchman, shared with great pride his review of the season. His speech reflected on the hard work and dedication of our rowers, and the results indeed speak for themselves.

The awards presented during the night were:

  • Certificate for Dedication: Charlie Huang and Ophelia Goh (Year 8)
  • Certificate for Merit: Connor Gee and Fletcher Adams (Year 9)
  • Rising Star Certificates: Sienna Kemp (Year 7) and Lara Naylor Zambrano (Year 10)

The Trophy for Excellence is calculated on racing results throughout the season in the All Schools’ Regattas, and was awarded to Alicia Garvey (Year 9). Alicia finished the season as the State Champion single sculler, and she and her partner Rosie Bennison were State Champions in double scull.

She and her pairs partner, Hayley Walker (Year 9), came second at the All Schools’ State Championships, and many coaches are excited about her future in the sport.

The ASC Rowing Club’s end of season dinner and awards night was a true celebration of community, achievement and the enduring spirit of rowing.

The evening concluded with a heartfelt thank you to our Year 12 rowers, who have been an exceptional cohort of rowers and an incredibly important part of why our club is flourishing. We wish them all the best as each personalises their next adventures, and maybe we will see them again as coaches in the future.

Congratulations to all our rowers, and we are looking forward to another exciting and successful season ahead.
