House Council Leadership Day
On Friday 25 October, the six 2025 House Council teams were involved in a House Council Leadership Day, run by the Heads of House. It was a superb day, with beautiful weather and a group of super-enthusiastic students ready to develop their leadership skills. The students were involved in team building exercises, House Planning time, leadership activities, reflection sessions and thought-provoking workshops that supported their ability to think about the own leadership and reflect on what they can do to become the best leader possible at this point in time. There was also time to have lots of fun!
Each House Council Team is made up of students from Years 8–11 (who will be in Years 9–12 in 2025), and the day allowed them to get to know each other better, as well as starting to learn everyone’s strengths and abilities. It was a highly successful day, and we are looking forward to what the 2025 House Council Teams produce over the next 12 months.
Local Media Industry Connection
Recently students from the Certificate III Screen and Media class at ASC and The Studio School gained first-hand experience of the Perth media industry when they visited the School of Audio Engineering (SAE) and RTRFM. This visit not only opened their eyes to the realm of media production but also provided them with a deeper understanding of community engagement and the technical skills behind broadcasting.
At SAE students toured the facilities and learnt more about post-school creative pathways. They were able to see SAE students working on a range of projects, in their specialisations. They learnt about TV production, foley artistry, sound engineering, film production and writing. All were impressed by the state-of-the art facilities at SAE.
Next the students visited RTRFM where they learnt about community radio production and the importance of having locally produced alternative media. They were invited into the broadcast suite where they tried their hand at producing and hosting a radio show, producing their own interview. They also ventured into the production suite where they recorded stings to go into the station’s library. The station staff shared their experiences, highlighting how they curate playlists and the challenges of keeping the station running through community support and volunteers.
The day not only provided students with practical insights into the local media industry, but also highlighted the range of post-school pathways available.
Year 8/9 Girls’ Football Carnival
On Friday 23 October All Saints’ College played host to the annual Year 8/9 Girls’ Football Carnival. This is the 19th year that All Saints’ has organised and run the Carnival on the College oval, and it is always an amazing day. Held in conjunction with the East Fremantle and South Fremantle Football Clubs, the Carnival allows girls from schools in and around our districts to participate in a fun non-competitive environment where the focus is on enjoyment and skill development.
This year 12 teams from a range of different schools participated in the Carnival, with some outstanding performances throughout the day. It was wonderful to have the College oval full of footballers having fun and learning the skills of the great game of Australian Rules Football. A huge thank you to our Director of SHPE Mrs Katie Clayton for running the day, as well as to Ms Ariel Mroz and Ms Jo Beechey for coaching the All Saints’ teams on the day. All Saints’ College has been a pioneer of promoting girls’ participation in Australian Rules Football, and the 2024 edition of the Year 8/9 Carnival was a great day.
Graduate Art Exhibition 2024
Our final art exhibition of the year is now open. This exhibition is designed to showcase the fabulous artworks from our Year 12 ATAR Visual Arts & Design students, and showcases works from Years 7–12.
Among the disciplines and techniques on display will be painting, drawing, installation-based sculptural artworks, cuttlefish cast pewter pendants, rug-tufting, photography, animation, textiles, digital artworks, ceramics, paper-cut tunnel books, fabric design, felted monsters, keychains, recycled headwear, model houses, and a special mention of a tower of giraffes and a bloom of jellyfish! Something for everyone!
Our students have been working very hard throughout the year to acquire new skills, techniques and processes, using materials in creative and innovative ways.
QR codes are located next to the artworks, so you can read about the project and the descriptions of the processes, as well as the students involved. The exhibition will be on display from Friday 25 October until the end of the term in the CPA foyer during Wanju by The Little Parry Café opening hours. So come on down, grab a coffee and be inspired by our talented students.
Year 9 Girls Win in Challenging ANA Head of the Swan Race
On Saturday 19 October our Year 9 girls made their debut in the ANA Head of the Swan race. This challenging event spans 8.6km (though some claim it's even longer) and requires competitors to row to the starting line 8.6km away before racing back. This means over 16km of rowing in one day. The course is particularly complex, posing a real test for any Coxswain.
The girls gained valuable insights into their own resilience and discovered they could push themselves beyond their perceived limits. They shared afterwards that they ventured into zones they didn’t even know existed. We are proud to announce that they emerged victorious in the schoolgirls' quad division.
Congratulations to these girls!
If rowing sounds interesting to you, now is the time to express your interest.
We hope to have our biggest season to ever next year, and we look forward to new members becoming part of the success we have enjoyed to date.
Please send an email to Nicholas Tejchman to learn more and give rowing a go!
