Artist in Residence

Peter Hill

Peter is a visual artist, musician and builder who is based in Northcliffe. We have been really lucky to have him as our Artist in Residence in the Primary School this week. Peter has shared his love of wood and the exploration of mark-making with the Years Four, Five and Six students this week.

Students were guided through a series of exercises starting with movement and dance that led to drawing the movement. The lines were created and then transferred onto lengths of wood that were then burnt into, drawn, painted, and sanded. Students were encouraged to keep part of the natural wood in their artworks. The lengths of wood will be put together as part of an installation for the art exhibition in September, ‘Rhythms’.

Sydney Dance Company

A group of Secondary School students were very lucky to participate in a contemporary dance workshop with the Sydney Dance Company on Tuesday afternoon.

The workshop allowed students to deepen their creative, collaborative and critical thinking skills through the exploration of movement. It was an amazing experience of professional dancing. The company performed their new work momenta at the Albany Entertainment Centre on Wednesday evening.
