Meet our new Coding Club members

This term, students in Years 5 and 6 were invited to join our new Coding Club. The club provides an opportunity for students to extend their coding skills and challenge themselves by participating in a range of competitions.

Last week, our students took part in the Bebras Challenge. This international competition tests students’ computational and algorithmic thinking skills through a 45-minute online challenge, with questions that increase in difficulty. We look forward to seeing how our students performed! 

Below are some examples of the questions the students had to answer. See how you go with working the answers out!

Beginning next week the students will work in teams to participate in the Victorian Coding Challenge. They will solve real-life problems using coding, mathematics and logical thinking skills. Later in the year, they will also attend a face-to-face Challenge Day, competing in teams against students from other schools.

 The students final competition will see them take part in the STEM Video Game Challenge. In this competition, they will design, develop and code their own video game based on this year’s theme: Oceans. The students will again work in teams to develop their game using various platforms for game development.

It has been wonderful to see our students collaborating, problem-solving and supporting one another as they tackle these challenges. We are very proud of their enthusiasm and teamwork!
