The Arts

Bootcamp has commenced. A group of highly energised improv enthusiasts came bounding into the Xanten Theatre to meet their `Improv Bootcamp Trainer’ – Ethan Battle. Ethan is a passionate Perth actor who has completed his Diploma of Acting at WAAPA and is presently continuing his studies at WAAPA in Musical Theatre. His creative energy engaged the students immediately. Through warm-up drills and improv games the students created some very funny pieces of work and interacted with each other with good humour and kind-heartedness.
We now have 4 more weeks of training that will see these students evolve into certified `Improvisation Artists’; culminating in a `Bootcamp Battle Night’ for invited family and friends. We wish all the best to our students for the weeks ahead:

We have launched our Production for 2026 – Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
One of Shakespeare’s best-loved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream was written early in Shakespeare’s career, around the same time as Romeo and Juliet. While the play is one of love, laughter and magic, within the story Shakespeare also explores darker themes of jealousy, family conflict and fractured relationships.
The humans – Athenian citizens and a group of bumbling amateur actors - stumble into the world of the feisty fairies, who are in the mood for mischief. These three worlds collide in an explosion of comic confusion, love, magic and mayhem.
Characters have been assigned to a very talented group of performers who met this Tuesday to explore the text and some creative ideas. They are a dynamic and enthusiastic team and we are excited to share this work with the St Norbert College community in May next year.
