Football
It’s been a busy and exciting few weeks for our Specialised Football Program.
On Tuesday 28 October, our Year 7 football students represented the College at the ACC Super Series. The girls faced a tough group but put in several strong performances, including a narrow loss to the eventual finalists, Mercy College. Thank you to the students who assisted throughout the day. Your teamwork and support were greatly appreciated.
The boys finished their campaign with two losses, a draw, and a narrow 4–3 defeat to Mercy College, a result that decided who would progress to the finals. Despite the disappointment, their effort and growth were clear to see. Both teams have laid a solid foundation as they continue to develop within the College’s football program.
On Wednesday 5 November, our SSWA Junior Boys Futsal teams also took to the court, with Teams 1 and 2 both finishing top of their groups. This led to an all St Norbert semi-final, where Team 1 narrowly defeated Team 2 to book a place in the final. By reaching the final, the boys also qualified for the State Championships, to be held on Wednesday 19 November at Cockburn ARC.
In the final, they faced a strong South Coast side, an opponent they had beaten earlier in the day. A slow start and a few costly errors proved decisive, but the experience will serve them well as they prepare for the upcoming State Championships.
On Friday 7 November, our SSWA Junior Girls Futsal Carnival Teams A and B topped their group and played off in the final. Both teams qualified for the state championships by making the final. Team C was super competitive in all games.
Mya Veron was named MVP.

Basketball
We are incredibly proud of our Specialised Basketball students who have recently represented the College in both the Elite Tournaments and the ACC Year 10 Carnival.
Our Year 9/10 students competed in the Elite Tournament on Friday 31 October, playing hard against other specialist schools. One of our boys’ teams narrowly missed finals position due to the closeness of percentage points. After each game, referees awarded points to standout performers. A big congratulations to Hannah Cushen, who received a medal for the highest total points among all girls in her division, and to Andre Dweh, who earned an All-Star 5 medal for finishing among the top five players in his division — both outstanding achievements that reflect their great efforts.
On Monday 4 November, our Years 9 and 10 students competed again in the ACC Year 10 Carnival. Despite the Year 10 girls’ team being made up mostly of Year 9 players competing above their age group, they played with determination and earned a place in the semi-final against Kennedy College. The boys’ team also performed strongly throughout the day, progressing to their semi-final. Although both teams were narrowly defeated, they should be very proud of their sportsmanship and the way they represented the College.
We look forward to the upcoming Elite carnival for our hard-working Year 7/8 Specialised students.
