Ryan Wheeler

Murdoch University has, from its foundation in 1974, been a university of difference associated with environment and conservation, social justice and inclusion.

The Ngala Kwop Biddi Brighter Futures Scholarship aligns with the University’s strategic themes of Sustainability, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, and First Nations.  Each Western Australian Secondary School will be able to nominate one of their graduating Year 12 students, who by their leadership and activity has effected positive change in their school or community, related to one of the three strategic themes.

From the graduating Class of 2025, Ryan Wheeler was a successful applicant of the Ngala Kwop Biddi Brighter Futures Scholarship. Congratulations to Ryan on his hard work and dedication in his role as Premontre College Captain and his work in ATAR Geography on a sustainable future. The College community wishes Ryan every success in his future endeavours at Murdoch University.

Creating positive habits round recycling and encouraging some healthy House Competition, students were updated each week on their House’s recycling efforts. The House with the most recyclable containers at the end of Week 9 would win a BBQ lunch provided by the Climate Canons. Congratulations to Premontre House for recycling the most amount of 10c containers (with a little help from Mr Levy) and to all students who helped recycle some of the 1.4 billion 10 cent containers which are sold each year, many of which end up as litter or in general waste. It is our duty to recycle and repurpose and find alternatives to single use plastic.

National Water Week

National Water Week is a time to celebrate the vital role water plays in our lives, our communities, and our future. Held from Monday 20 to Sunday 26 October 2025, the official theme is Water Heroes: Save Every Drop, which encourages individuals, schools, and communities to raise awareness about water conservation.

During this week, a nationwide event called Water Night took place on Thursday 23 October, where people were encouraged to turn off their taps for a few hours to conserve water.

Every drop of water counts, so report and fix dripping taps, sprinklers and leaks around the school and at your homes.

Students were involved in a National Water Week Blooket to hone their skills on being water wise. Congratulations to Anureet Cheema (Year 7), Isabel Fisher (Year 10) and Emma Nguyen (Year 11) on their top scores. Students were also involved in a Water Wise Poster Competition. There were some great entries, congratulations to on their winning poster Anureet Cheema (Year 7).
