Recess and Lunch Opportunities

We’ve made some small but positive changes to yard duty arrangements involving Tirkandi this year. This was an initiative that the (2025) Student Ambassadors were advocating for towards the end of last year.

Semester 1: Tirkandi will be open at lunch times on Monday, Tuesday and Friday starting from Week 2. Tirkandi will then close during the second semester.

This change has been made to provide an additional lunchtime option for students who may not always wish to engage in physical activities. We feel this is a positive step that supports student voice and wellbeing, while offering greater choice and balance during lunch.

On these days, we encourage students to make the most of the library space. The library offers a calm and welcoming environment where students can explore new books, engage with new equipment and activities, draw, play board or card games, or simply enjoy some quiet time.

CE STUDENT FORUMS

 PODCAST!!

Our Year 6 Student Ambassadors have made a strong start to the year, recently recording their first podcast following the Term 1 CE Student Forums. After engaging with students and leaders from across South Australia, including the Chief Executive of the Department for Education, our ambassadors used this opportunity to capture key ideas and student perspectives. We’re proud of the way they have represented our school and amplified student voice through this initiative. Well done to Olive, Matilda, Tex and Bradley on their confidence and ability to reflect on how the first meeting went.

Our Student Ambassador and NEW Student Leader badges have arrived!

Check out the Mellor Student Leader team and their new badges!
