PBL Weeks 9 and 10 will focus on the value of Resilience

Week 9 

Lesson Focus -“I am a problem Solver at all times”

Being a problem solver is important because it helps children respond positively to challenges instead of giving up or relying on others to fix things for them. It supports independence, confidence and better decision-making in everyday situations.

When linked to PBL values, problem solving becomes even more meaningful:

• Respect: Problem solvers listen to others’ ideas, consider different perspectives, and work cooperatively to find fair solutions.
• Resilience: They keep trying when something is difficult, learn from mistakes, and don’t give up easily.
• Responsibility: They take ownership of their actions and actively look for solutions rather than avoiding problems.

• Safety: They make thoughtful choices that help keep themselves and others safe, especially when dealing with conflict or risky situations.

   

 Week 10

Lesson Focus- We will revisit the way in which we wear our school uniform.

Wearing our school uniform correctly is important because it reflects pride in our school and helps students demonstrate our PBL values in everyday actions.

• Respect: Wearing the uniform correctly shows respect for ourselves, our school and our community by presenting a neat and consistent appearance.
• Responsibility: It shows we take responsibility for following school expectations and being prepared for learning each day.
• Resilience: At times it may feel easier to dress casually, but following the uniform guidelines consistently shows commitment and self-discipline.
• Safety: A correct uniform helps staff easily identify students and ensures we are dressed appropriately for learning activities and school environments.

Overall, wearing our uniform correctly helps create a sense of unity, belonging and pride across the school community.

PBL Behaviour Flow Chart and Behaviour Matrix Update

As part of our ongoing commitment to supporting student wellbeing and positive behaviour, we are currently working with MACS to develop a Behaviour Flow Chart that aligns with our school values of Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Safety.

The Behaviour Flow Chart is currently in draft form and will be trialled with students and staff in Years 3 and 5 during Semester 2. This trial phase is an important step in ensuring that the process is practical, consistent and effective in supporting positive student behaviour across the school.

Throughout the trial, we will seek feedback from staff, students through the SRC and our parent community. This feedback will help us identify any necessary refinements before the final version is shared with the wider school community.

The Behaviour Matrix clearly outlines expected behaviours and categorises behaviours as either minor or major. It also identifies the appropriate responses and support strategies that will be implemented when repeated behaviours arise. The purpose of the matrix is to provide a clear, consistent and fair approach to behaviour management to ensure that all students understand expectations and feel supported to make positive choices.

Following the review and feedback process, any necessary adjustments will be made during Semester 2. We anticipate implementing the Behaviour Flow Chart and Behaviour Matrix across the whole school once the trial and review has been completed.
