Primary School News

We’ve made it to halfway through the term, and it’s wonderful to see everyone settled into their classes and forming strong friendships. It’s also exciting to see the gains students are making in their learning. At the beginning of the term, our staff spent time assessing students’ numeracy and literacy skills so that we can support each child to grow and flourish in their learning journey.

We are very excited for Open Night on Thursday 5 March 4:00pm - 6:30pm! We love seeing all our families there. Primary School will be buzzing with activities in the classrooms, including robots, 3D printing, craft, basketball competitions, and, hopefully, the long-awaited Year 2 chicks will have hatched. In the sandpit, we’ll have Dig a Dino – can you dig and find a dino to take home?

We are so blessed to have students at our school from over 20 countries. We will celebrate Harmony Day on Friday 20 March, giving thanks for our school where everyone, from every country and culture, is welcome and belongs. We believe that we are all made in God’s image and called to come together in one voice to worship Him.

On Harmony Day, all students are asked to wear orange to celebrate. There will also be a special assembly in the afternoon to focus on this message of unity. If you are from one of these communities and would like to be involved on the day to share your culture or have links to cultural groups, please let us know – we would love your involvement!

"How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!"

On Friday 20 February, our Kindergarten and Year 1 students had an absolute blast at Water Fun Day! We rotated through lots of exciting water-based activities – from water pistol battles, to Duck Duck Goose, Under, Over, and Pass the Parcel with cups of water and water balloons.

To keep us going in the heat, we each received a special ice block, a tasty treat after all the splashing! We definitely got soaked, but loved every single minute of the fun.

A huge thank you to our Year 6 and Secondary School helpers, and to Mrs Joiner and her team for all their hard work in organising such a fantastic morning.

I have been a teacher for 20 years in secondary and special education. I love seeing students learn about God's creation and the world they live in. I enjoy outdoor education, sport, reading and writing. It is exciting to be working in a school with my wife and one of my four children. I look forward to a wonderful year of learning at the Wagga Wagga Christian College.
