Physical Education

In PE, students have continued working on their Kicking (Prep) and Striking units, implementing their skills into minor games.

Sport

We have had a very busy fortnight in sport, with many students participating in a variety of sporting finals. Congratulations to the following superstars!

Athletics

On Thursday the 20th of October, we had four Grade 4 students participate in the Eastern Metropolitan Region Track and Field Championships. Hudson, Cody, Harvey and Hamish did an amazing job and achieved the following results:

9/10 boys 4 x 100m relay – 5th

Hudson – 15th in the 9/10 boys 800m

Cody – 5th in the 9/10 boys 200m

Congratulations on making it to this level of competition, an outstanding achievement!

Basketball

Our 5/6 All Star Boys – Ethan, Matt C, Lochie, Malik, Matt H, Finn, Tyler, Archer and Riley - have had a very busy fortnight, competing in two different competition pathways.

Last term, the team won the All Star Boys competition at our District Hoop Time day. This provided them the opportunity to play in the Regional Hoop Time finals on Monday the 24th of October. The team won all of their pool games and progressed to the semi-finals. The game went into overtime with the team narrowly losing by 2 points. What an extraordinary effort after a huge week of basketball. A big thank you to Mr Smith for coaching the team and passing on his expertise!

On Wednesday the 19th of October, the team participated in the Yarra Division finals against Yarra Glen Primary and Oxley College. The boys defeated Yarra Glen 54-36 and then narrowly lost to Oxley in a hard-fought game, finishing the day in second position. Unfortunately for Oxley, they are unable to participate in the next round, which means our team move through. A big thank you to Melissa Eames for coaching the team throughout this pathway, while Mr V. has been overseas. We wish the team well in the Regional finals tomorrow!

Tennis

Our tennis team have been very patiently waiting since Term 1 for their next round of competition, the Yarra Division finals. The team played against Oxley College on Friday the 21st of October. All team members played extremely well and had a great morning demonstrating their tennis skills, however narrowly lost to Oxley 8-4. Well done Lachie, Xander, Matt H, Blake M, Ollie, Archer, Wyatt and Hurley on the responsibility and sportsmanship you showed. A big thank you to Mr Langerak for supporting the team on the day!

Volleyball

On Tuesday the 25th of October, Rolling Hills had a team participate in the Eastern Metropolitan Region Volleyball finals for the first time ever! Our 5/6 girls team played against Park Ridge, Livingstone and Mont Albert. Whilst the rules were a lot stricter than the team were used to, they adapted really well and were competitive in each of their games. Well done Lily, Zoe, Ryley, Maddy, Ava, Jazz, Lacey and Abbi on your exemplary effort and sportsmanship. To make it to this level of competition in an unfamiliar sport is a fantastic achievement!

Thank you to all the parents and families for their enormous effort in transporting their own child and others, where needed, to ensure we could participate in all of these events. We really appreciate it!
