Ignatius News

Mr Terry Quain

It is great to see the Year 11 Ignatius House students join the seniors, and other leaders that have gone before them, as they wear the College’s blue shirt and blazer combination this term. The Ignatius House Pastoral Care Team are working hard with the students to harness and fine-tune those key qualities that make a leader successful. Already some have taken up opportunities presented such as guiding College Tours and getting involved in the Marist Youth Ministry forum. I am excited to see how the upcoming “We Don’t Talk About Uno” Pastoral Group challenge is going to play out – which Ignatius Pastoral Group will reign supreme in the game of Uno! Best wishes to the Senior Leaders as they facilitate this fun and inclusive PG activity.

With such a busy start to the term, in Pastoral Care and House Meetings this term, we’ve taken some time out to Breathe, with a reflection and activity centred on the beautiful poem ‘Breathe’ by Becky Hemsley. Led by our seniors, the young men of Ignatius House were given opportunities with mentors to discuss their hopes and dreams free of judgment and agenda. In Peer Mentoring groups, we’ve taken the theme further to look at the importance of taking time to look at situations from someone else point of view before criticising and condemning.

Finally this week, after a very close and come from behind performance: Congratulations to the Ignatius Theatre-sports team who progress to Round 2 after narrowly defeating Foley this morning!
