Walkathon News

The annual community walkathon event to be held Sunday 5 June was launched at assembly last week. Much background work has already taken place by the Parents and Friends Association in preparing for this year’s event. This is the College’s major community fundraising event for the year and coincides with the legendary Battle of the Bands competition, providing great entertainment to families at the walkathon finish on McMahon oval.

Cashless fundraising has begun with many students already contributing. Donations can be made on the following link - https://events.humanitix.com/mca-walkathon-2022.

Walkathon Prizes:

  • For every $50 a student raises, they will be in the draw to select a haircut style for Ethen to wear around the College
  • For every $100 a student raises, football/rugby ball (limited stock available)
  • For every $200 a student raises, they will be in the draw to win two State of Origin tickets.  Every $50 above this will give you another ticket
  • For Primary students who raise over $30, you will receive a bouncy ball
  • Best dressed fancy dress on the day, will receive a Tuckshop voucher to the value of $50
  • Pizza party for Pastoral Group and Primary class that raises the most money

A reminder that this is a compulsory community event for all students.

Year 7 Celebration Days

After NAPLAN concludes and during Week 5, Wednesday 18 to Friday 20 May, Year 7 students will be participating in a series of activities as House based groups with the focus on leadership, team building and group interaction. The concept of these days is to continue the process of transition and sense of belonging to house groups and the College. Families should have received an email outlining detail of these days including bus departure/return times, equipment requirements for specific activities and (indemnity forms). I would ask families to complete any required forms as soon as possible to assist with our organisation. I would like to thank Mr Ryan Apps in advance for his work thus far in organising these days.

Year 9 SMASHED presentation

Today the Year 9 students attended the government funded Smashed presentation based on alcohol awareness education and decision making. The presentation fits in with the terms ASH lessons that focus on decision making in challenging areas for teenagers including alcohol and pornography. Later this term, Real Talk a Christian perspective conversation on the topic of pornography will also be presented to the Year 9 students in the ASH program.
