Radio Committee
Learning Intention - To understand an effective communication creation (audio).
As DJ’s for the hit station GWPS FM, students will be exposed to the ‘tricks of the trade’ in scripting and broadcasting quality audio. Throughout 2020 students will produce daily broadcasts to the school community, as well as delivering special extended broadcasts throughout the year (e.g. for ANZAC Day, International Children’s Day, Cultural Diversity Week etc).
Podcasting Learning Intention - To understand the vital process of building an effective script, recording and editing audio.
Students will be exposed to the ‘ins-n-outs’ of radio broadcasting, and build their skills in researching, planning, scripting, recording, and editing a variety of podcasts to be broadcast to the entire school community! With the chance to record multiple episodes of their Podcast, students will have the opportunity to build an authentic audience across the school.
Glen TV
Learning Intention – To understand what makes for effective recordings through audio-visual broadcasts (BTN-style TV news stories).
Students will study how to be an effective TV Journalist – researching, planning, scripting, recording, and editing school and community-based new stories to be broadcast to the entire school community. They will hone their skills in identifying what is newsworthy, the role that copyright and ethics play in TV production, and how to effectively film and edit footage.
Online Newspaper
Learning Intention – To understand what makes an effective journalist, and to apply this knowledge to produce quality written news reports.
Students will study how to be an effective Print Journalist – researching, planning, and writing school and community-based stories to be published in an online newspaper. They will hone their skills in identifying the sections of a weekly newspaper, understanding the process of researching and interviewing to ensure accuracy, and also improving their photography skills to add digital content to the newspaper.
