Hello and welcome to a new year of learning and creativity. I am very excited to announce that we will be hosting a GWPS Art Show this year; highlighting the creative work that the students have been working on throughout the year. Stay tuned for more details to come later in the year.

 

Foundation

Learning Intention: To understand how to use warm and cool colours in my artwork. 

Students will experiment with different materials and techniques to make artworks. They will utilise

painting skills to create artworks with contrasting warm and cool colours. ​

 

Year 1 ​

Learning Intention: To understand how to use collaging techniques to create an artwork.

Students will investigate the artist Claus Oldenburg, using his artwork to inspire their

collage artworks. ​

 

Year 2 ​

Learning Intention: To understand how to create still life artworks.

Students will investigate what it means to create a still life artwork and work towards creating their

own still life artwork using guided tutorials and drawing from observation.

 

Year 3 ​

Learning Intention: To understand Yayoi Kusama’s artwork and use it to inspire my own work. 

Students will explore the work of Yayoi Kusama, using her passion for pattern and repetition to

inspire their own artwork. ​

 

Year 4​

Learning Intention: To understand how to make a food themed sculpture. 

Students will use artist Peter Anton to inform their individual designs for their food

themed sculptural artworks. ​

 

Year 5​

Learning Intention: To understand how to use art in advertising and product design.​

Art is used in many forms of advertising and product design. Students will design a product and

create artwork advertising their ideas. ​

 

Year 6​

Learning Intention: To understand how to use images to portray ideas.

Informed by the Global Goals, students will explore how images and storylines can be used to

express an idea. ​

 

ART INNOVATION ​- YEAR 3 & 4

Learning Intention: To design and make food themed sculptures. 

Students will explore the work of Lucy Sparrow to inspire their own textile-based artworks. ​
