Year 11 News:

Northern Territory Tour

On the 17th June- 29th June 22 students headed off to the Northern Territory. With an express bus to Uluru, students saw sights through the red centre with Uluru then onto Kings Canyon. Students enjoyed the warm weather and conquered the walks with ease taking in the amazing scenery.

We then headed to Alice Springs where Rex the reptile man did a presentation with common reptiles in Australia, students were able to hold many of them as well as a python.

Heading up through the centre, we visited the royal flying doctors and school of the air, further understanding the vast environment and how people survive in the tough conditions and receive healthcare and education.

Another long bus ride got us to Daly waters- where we took a relaxing swim in the thermal pools and slept under the stars, a highlight for the students. Kakadu was next on the agenda and students and staff enjoyed the morning cruises through Nitmiluk Gorge and Yellow waters- even seeing crocodiles having a fight. We finished the trip through Litchfield National Park, swimming in the rock pools and the waterfalls and finally reaching Darwin for dinner on the Wharf and enjoying the flight home.

We would like to thank all the students for an amazing trip. They were experts at tent set ups, early morning rises and everyday had a smile on their faces. They were absolutely fantastic and the staff enjoyed every minute.

YEAR 11 VCE KEY DATES

As we are approaching the end of 2022 we have many important dates and activities scheduled for Year 11 VCE students.

Year 11 Exams commence on Tuesday 15th- November and run until Friday 18th November. A study day has been organised for Year 11 VCE students to support them for their Exams on Monday 14th November- no scheduled classes will run for the day.

Exam feedback sessions are occurring on Thursday 24th and Friday 25th of November. Students will attend regular scheduled classes where students will receive feedback on their performance in the end of year exam and their overall progress this year for each subject.

Year 11 careers day is on Monday the 21st November- this day will cover sessions regarding University life, optional career opportunities after Year 12 and completing Career Action Plans.

Year 11 Activity day and final awards assembly is scheduled for Tuesday 22nd November. Students will then go to Kemizo in Pakenham for roller skating and laser tag. Students not wishing to take part in the activity day will be expected to be at school.

Cranbourne East Step-up Program commences on Monday 28th November until Friday 9th December. During this time, students will begin their chosen pathway for Year 12 VCE or VCE-VM and begin their scheduled classes. If your child is exiting the College they will not be required during this time.

Year 11 VCAL - Walkathon

On the 6th of October our Year 11 cohort took place in a full day walkathon to raise funds for a variety of charities chosen by the students. Across the day we had various community groups come down and support our students with hot drinks and snacks.

Students walked a total of 1,521 laps around the Hunt Club Pavillion which totalled 760.5km across the day. Some of our high achievers complete 50+ laps individually.

The total funds raised across the day was over $2500 - truly an outstanding effort from our Year 11 classes in their Personal Development classes.

Year 11 VCAL Key Dates

Over the coming weeks our Year 11 students begin their preparations for entering Year 12.

Students will construct a folio of their achievements and goals to highlight to employers why they would be a positive addition to any company. This task begins the work towards outcomes for Year 12 and will culminate in a mock interview on the 21st of November where students will be required to apply for a job, attend an interview, and receive feedback.

Students will end their Year 11 experience with a Celebration Day on the 22nd of November and a final goal setting / feedback session on the 24th of November. This will set the tone for the following week when they are officially Year 12 students!

Year 12 celebrations

Last week we celebrated the amazing achievements of our year 12 students.

The Year 12s enjoyed a much-needed de-stress day out at Gumbuya World.

The following day, they enjoyed a breakfast with their peers and teachers, followed by a lap of honour where they were cheered on and celebrated by all the students and staff at CESC. The year 10 students performed a Haka for the Year 12s as a show of respect.

Then, onto their final assembly. There were lots of laughs and tears as they reflected on their time here at Cranbourne East.

This year they faced so many challenges, yet they remained positive, supported one another and they worked extremely hard. We are so proud of our year 12 students and the resilience they have shown.

We wish our year 12 students currently sitting their exams, all the very best!

Year 12 Valedictory

We look forward to celebrating the successes of our year 12 students at the Valedictory evening on Tuesday 22nd November 2022.
