New Subjects: Retail Services and Fitness

It is with much excitement that we announce the introduction of Retail Services as a Stage 6 option for students in 2020. This practical contemporary based subject is a Vocational Educational Training (VET) subject which provides numerous opportunities for the boys.

It is an ATAR subject which awards students who successfully complete the course with a Certificate III national recognised qualification. As a VET subject, there is also a work placement component which the college finds for the students.

The College has also built a purpose built room (104) to enable the daily practicing of all key competencies. The room is kitted out with merchandise, a cash register, POS system and specialised equipment to support both the teaching and learning of both practical and theory content.

This year will see the first intake of 19 students into this course.

We wish them all the success and enjoyment as they embark on this exciting new offering within the college.

2020 will see the College’s first vocational course in Fitness being delivered. The students will be working towards a Statement of Attainment in a Certificate III in Fitness. Mr. Michael Bullock, a qualified Fitness Instructor, will be taking on the course delivery and is already having an impact with the class. This brings the internal vocational courses on offer at the College this year to 5 with six classes in Year 11 and four classes in Year 12. We wish all of our students well in their studies for the coming year.

TAFE and SBAT students

In 2020 we will have 17 students studying a variety of courses externally at TAFE including Automotive, Electrotechnology, Fitness, Plumbing, Business Administration and Animal Studies. These students will study these courses as part of their HSC using expert trainers and state of the art TAFE facilities to learn practical skills in their fields of interest.
