Semester Two Dance & Drama Showcase

On Tuesday night we held our Dance & Drama Showcase for Semester Two here at the College. This was the perfect chance for the students to showcase a piece for their families and friends, having swapped subjects for the second half of the year. What a great night it was! We saw teamwork, coordination and some fantastic technique in each of the Year Seven and Eight dance routines. There was great entertainment and much hilarity in the Year Seven melodramas, movement pieces and radio plays. We were also privileged to witness solo and small group routines from Isabella Lovell, Charlotte Bateman, Annabel Sartori, Charli Silva, Lilliana Howells and Bailey Rothacker as well as some footage of senior students’ self-choreographed dancing.

A huge congratulations to all of the students for their hours of rehearsing and outstanding performances on the night. Mr Robert Owens and Ms Phoebe Wootton outdid themselves again in guiding our students through the creation, rehearsal and performance process, managing a large number of students whilst paying great attention to the needs of individuals throughout. Thanks also to Mr Gary Hoggard for technical assistance and Mrs Aimee Woodward for coordinating the all-important pizza dinner beforehand.

Celebration Evening

At the time of writing, all is in readiness for Tuesday week’s Celebration Evening and Graduation Ceremony for the Year 10 students. Every student from Years 4 - 10 has been involved in rehearsing an item as a massed choir (three separate items – Years 4-6, 7-8 and 9-10) to be performed on the night. The Orchestra will be performing Jupiter - Bringer of Jollity. All students in Years 4-6, as well as students who elected to participate from the Secondary School will be performing a dance item. The Elective Music classes have arranged a piece based on the theme ‘Rise’.

All students have worked really hard to be ready to perform at Celebration Evening and we congratulate them for all of their efforts. I’d personally like to thank Ms Dorothy Lincoln, Ms Phoebe Wootton, Mr Robert Owens, Miss Emma Jenkins, Mr Scott Young, Mr Stewart Bennett, Mr Anthony Chapman, Mrs Lyndal Tewes and Mrs Maree van Galen for coordinating or being a part of musical or dance performances. Also, to all staff, who are involved behind the scenes at rehearsals or on the night to varying levels, for all of their assistance and efforts to make this event the fitting send-off for our graduating students that it is.
