Confraternity Shield

Congratulations to the St Augustine’s First XIII rugby league team on their Confraternity Shield campaign. Saints competed in Division 1 against some of the best rugby league schools in Queensland. St Augustine’s got off to a winning start against Marist College Ashgrove and Aquinas College earning 14-6 and 22-0 victories. On day two, our boys suffered their first loss to eventual champions, Ignatius Park College. Their efforts in the pool stages ensured our progression to the quarter finals where they faced grand finalists, St Patrick’s College. Unfortunately, St Patrick’s proved too strong, earning a dominant victory. Saints ended the carnival with two hard-fought fixtures against Marymount College and St Mary’s College where they were, unfortunately, unable to finish the carnival with a victory. The squad showed great character throughout the carnival and represented St Augustine’s admirably.

Further congratulations must go to Lachlan Magill who was named in the Queensland Merit Rugby League Confraternity Shield for his performance throughout the carnival.

Thanks to all members of the squad for representing the College at this prestigious carnival. Special thanks must also go to the staff who gave up their time in the lead up to and at the carnival. The team’s success would not have been possible without the countless hours invested by the coaching team. Thank you to Mr O’Farrell, Mr Gregory, Mr Tomarchio, Mr Ward and Mr Connell for your efforts.
