Academic Awards

Congratulations to our boarders who received Academic Excellence Awards at yesterday's assembly. For a student to obtain a 4.25 grade point average, is testament to their hard work and dedication to schooling. This was a most fitting and proud moment for the following students:

  • Zai Laifoo (Year 7)
  • Max Masterman (Year 7)
  • Jack Calleja (Year 8)
  • Patrick Arnold (Year 9)
  • Jamie Keenan (Year 9)
  • Charlie Lawrence (Year 9)
  • Jyrell Richardson (Year 9)
  • Henry King (Year 10)
  • Edward Nancarrow (Year 11)
  • Reeve Kleinschmidt (Year 11)
  • Martin Weiss (Year 12)
  • Kibbim Titasey (Year 12)

We look forward, as a boarding community, to acknowledging and congratulating those students who will receive Academic Effort and Application Awards on Sunday night at our boarders Mass. These are based on Semester 1 report cards for effort and application.

Sickness in Boarding

With any community living, the likelihood of students becoming unwell remains high with the flu and Covid still prevalent in the wider community. We ask families of weekly boarders to monitor their health, and if unwell keep them at home until they are symptom free. This will help our staff and students to remain in optimal health.

Thursday Afternoon Activities

Term 3 activities on a Thursday afternoon began this week with all students from Years 7-10 participating in various activities during the term. Boarders rotate through these different activities, and the diverse range of experiences on offer is commendable. The year level activities include:

  • Years 7 and 8 girls - basketball
  • Years 7 and 8 boys - futsal
  • Years 9 and 10 girls - Oztag
  • Years 9 and 10 boys - indoor cricket and Oztag

Returning to Boarding from Weekends and Holidays

As we approach the free weekend at the end of week 3, I remind families that students must return to boarding on free and exeat weekends by 8pm. Those wishing to return on Monday morning must contact the respective head of residence well in advance. On other weekends boarders must be back at the College by 6pm in time for dinner and Mass at 7pm. As a courtesy, families are expected to contact their son or daughter's head of residence if they're going to be late.

International Program

At the start of term we welcomed three Japanese students to the College and to the boarding community. We are excited to host the boys and want to ensure that they have a wonderful time at Saints. Welcome to Takuma Hirabayashi (Year 10), Takumi Takeuchi (Year 11) and Ko Ichiyanagi (Year 11).

We also look forward to hosting 25 students who will be visiting Cairns from Japan's Torei Gakuen High School. The students and two staff members will be staying in boarding in weeks four and five.
