5/6 WINTER GALA DAYS

The students in year 5 & 6 have spent the past two Fridays playing against other schools in our District in Winter Sport.  This year we entered nine teams playing across four sports - AFL, soccer, teeball and netball.  We spent our Friday afternoons practicing our sports so we were ready to play our Winter Gala day sports.

We had very mixed results - and although we may not have been overly successful in some areas, we should be very proud of our efforts both individually and as teams.  

Our three Netball teams competed well and improved over the two days of competition.  We are so grateful to have had Danielle Tsetsos come along and help coach us not only on the two gala days but also to coach our practices every Friday afternoon this term!  Thank you so much Danielle!  Thank you also to our SJV staff who helped our netballers: Mrs Harvey, Mrs Willmott, Miss Rose, Mrs Klupacs and Miss D!

Our two teeball teams were incredibly competitive again this year.  Whilst we did not progress through to Division again, both teams made finals and won the majority of our games.  Huge thanks to Ms Ann Maree, Mrs McLean, Ms Deb, Mrs Porto and Miss Neofit.

Our AFL team had made a goal this year to try and improve on our results from last year!  Whilst we didn't win any games,  we definitely achieved our goal of improving!  Brilliant goals from Scott and Angus capped off two challenging days of footy for our team.  Thanks to Mrs McLean for our trainings on Friday afternoons - I feel so proud to have coached our team of students who always had a "never-give-up" attitude and smiling faces!

Our three soccer teams were again very competitive in 2023.  The SJV soccer teams won more games and our A team finished the day with a penalty shootout.  The final result didn't go our way but all of our teams played with amazing sportsmanship and spirit.   We were lucky to have such great support from parent coaches Spyros and Francine, and staff Mrs Felici, Mr F and Mr Klupacs.
