School Newsletter & Seesaw Feedback
The feedback that families provided about our school newsletter was very positive, with most families (94%) indicating that they find the information in the newsletter important or very important. Below are responses to some of the common themes within the newsletter feedback:
Newsletter Length
Many families reported that they are happy with the newsletter the way that it is currently communicated, however some families thought that the newsletter was too long and could be improved if it was shorter. Due to the nature of the digital platform the school uses to produce the newsletter, we are required to organise the information into pages. This has many benefits as it allows the viewer to jump to particular pages without having to scroll through reams of information. The pages format also allows us to organise information into clear sections which reduces the likelihood of important information being missed by viewers. The pages also act as a newsletter summary so that viewers can easily identify which parts of the newsletter are important to them.
Dates to remember
The Dates to Remember page of the newsletter is our most visited page and this was also reflected in your feedback. The Dates to Remember page is a great place for families that are looking for a summary of what’s happening in the school. This page shows the important dates for the upcoming 2 months in addition to the school closure days for the school year. As some special events are planned on a termly basis, it can be difficult to post all of the important school dates for the entire year. However, we always strive to give parents as much notice as possible for school events.
Seesaw
It was also great to hear that families are enjoying using Seesaw to engage in their child's learning. The feedback survey indicated that most families are happy with the way that Seesaw is currently being used. Many families indicated that they use the Seesaw posts as a way to engage in conversations with their child about the learning that is happening within the classroom. Some families indicated that they would prefer to receive more posts about the learning that is being undertaken in the classroom. While we value the impact that Seesaw has to engage families in learning this has to be balanced with the amount of time teachers have to create and send posts.
