New School-Based Apprenticeship

Congratulations to Matthew Meredith, Year 11, on securing a School-Based Apprenticeship in Plumbing with CTM Plumbing Services. Matthew will be working closely with his father completing the first year of his apprenticeship throughout Year 11 and Year 12. Matthew will be working on Tuesdays and attending TAFE on a Wednesday. Congratulations Matthew, we wish you well in your chosen career pathway.

VET Work Placement

For our students studying courses in Construction, Primary Industries, Retail Services and Fitness in Year 11 this year work placement has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 crisis. At this present time, approval has been granted for work placement to commence from Term 3 onwards. The College is currently planning on our Year 11 students completing Work Placement in Week 5 and 6 of Term 4. This placement will cover both the work placement requirement for Years 11 and 12. Further information will be provided to students and parents closer to the dates.

TAFE Study

It has been fantastic to see our students get back to face to face learning in their TAFE studies. It has been a challenging time for the boys, as they have had to continue online studies in these practically based subjects whilst TAFE has dealt with the COVID-19 pandemic. I congratulate the boys on their hard work during this time and wish them well as they tackle the challenge of catching up on their practical tasks on a weekly basis.

Subject Selection

Subject Selection for Year 10 students was on the agenda this week with the information evening and commencement of interviews with staff. The College offers a significant amount of options in relation to Vocational Education Pathways for our students. The subject selection website that the students have access to, has a large amount of information about the pathways we offer at the College to complement your sons’ learning and/or interests. I am thankful I was able to present these options to you on Wednesday night and encourage you to get in contact with me via email so I can answer any questions you may have concerning these pathways.
