Regional Finals Success in Table Tennis

Last Thursday the 24th of October, Girton Grammar School competed three more teams in the Regional Finals. All three were convincing winners. With our Year Seven Boys and the Year Seven Girls teams both gaining walkovers, this means that an astonishing seven out of eight Girton Grammar School Table Tennis teams have not only won their respective divisions against the eight other schools in the Sandhurst Competition, but all were successful in progressing through to the Regional Championships and onto the State Finals in November. Earlier in the Year both the Senior Boys and the Senior Girls team finished third in the State Finals.

Last year Girton Grammar School qualified five out of a possible eight teams through to the State Finals with the Year Seven Girls team of Hannah Green, Olivia Green, Charlotte Lowther and Mya Long winning the State Championship.

The winning teams at Regional level last Thursday were:

Intermediate Boys team: Aidan Clemens, Lasith Kulasekara, Lachlan Woodward and Isaac Willits

Intermediate Girls team: Annaliese Broom, Rena Nichol, Seyeon Ko and Charlie Sofo

Year 8 Girls team: Hannah Green, Olivia Green, Charlotte Lowther and Mya Long

On November 20th, the Intermediate Girls team, the Year Eight Girls team as well as the Year Seven Girls team of Seren Smith, Amelie Woodward, Ava Bonsey and Lily Richter travel to Melbourne to compete in the State Championship.

On November the 29th, the Intermediate Boys team and the Year Seven Boys team of Henry Rathjen, William Bowles, Sampson Tully and Lincoln McKern travel to Melbourne to compete in the State Championship.

We wish them all the best at this very elite level of competition.
