Girton Grammar School Debating Team Break Up 2019

On Wednesday 16th October the Girton Grammar School Debating Team had its annual Break Up with a pizza lunch and celebration of the years’ achievements and to announce the winners of this years’ Impromptu Speed Debating Tournament. We also announced the best speakers awards for each grade and the coveted Golden Cram-Card Award for the best first year debater in the tournament. These students’ names have been engraved on the perpetual shields that hang on the walls in the top floor of the Naunton Family Building.

 

In D Grade, the tournament was won by Da Biazed Adjudicatorz consisting of Aksharan Shobanan (8R), Bella Marchant (8M) and Remus Brasier (8M) won the tournament by a slim margin of 1 point. Congratulations to Jenna Ackland (7Jo), Oshadha Kodippiliarachchi (7Jo), Aksharan and Remus who all finished with equal points to share the best speaker award.

 

 

In C Grade, the tournament was won by Smashmouth consisting of Will Hamilton (9Je), Aubrey Jacobs (10Jo), Lasith Kulasekera (10Jo) and Janidu Hathurusinghe (10Je). Congratulations to Will and Aubrey who finished equal best speakers for the grade.

 

 

In B Grade, The Conradicles consisting of Arunika Madina (11Je), Zoe Hilson (11F) and Sophie Thompson (11F), Simone Stephens (11F) and Woaliba Hadi (10F) won the tournament by an enormous margin. Congratulations to Sophie who won the best speaker for the grade.

 

 

In A grade, the tournament was won by United Against Collectivism consisting of Max Tulloch (12Jo), Abbey Saxon (12F), Charlie Wardrop (12A) and Jordan Rogers (12M). Congratulations to Charlie who won best speaker for the grade.

 

 

Finally, congratulations to our Golden Cram-Card Award winners, Jenna Ackland (7Jo) and Oshadha Kodippiliarachchi (7Jo) for being the best first year debaters for the tournament.
