Mock Trial

On Tuesday 17th May, the HKHS Mock Trial team competed against Northholm Grammar School in Round 3 of the Mock Trial competition, run by the Law Society. Our team remains undefeated so far, as we won this round with 139 points to 134.

We were representing the Defendant in a civil negligence suit. Larna Homer was brilliant as Barrister 1 and Vesna Bakarich-Davies was equally brilliant as Barrister 2. A big thanks to Micah Booth who was our Solicitor.

We are fortunate to have highly competent and reliable witnesses in Alyssa Russotti and Tony Bush. Another big thanks to Phoebe Kostalas, who stepped in at the last minute as our Court Officer, because our other Court Officer went home sick!

We will soon compete in Round 4 🙂

Scholarship Awarded to Alum of Henry Kendall High School

Congratulations to Courtney Maisano who has been awarded one of the highly esteemed International College of Management Sydney (ICMS) Professional Scholarship for 2022.

The ICMS Scholarship Program is exemplary within the Australian Higher Education sector.

Applicants are required to apply by a set deadline and include their most recent academic transcripts, a written essay addressing specific criteria and an array of supporting relevant documents such as, evidence of past and present leadership roles, community contributions, references and high school achievements.

Successful students then progress to the second stage, a panel interview. A reduced number of finalists get through to the second round of panel interviews, attended by separate qualifying panels.Scholarships are awarded following comprehensive assessments of the competing candidates. A wide range of attributes and factors relating to the finalists are considered before a selection to award a scholarship is made.

This is a truly outstanding achievement.

The ICMS Scholarship Ceremony is a highlight on the college calendar. Pictured below is Courtney being presented with the ICMS Professional Scholarship at the ceremony.

Congratulations Courtney!!

Congratulations to Aaron Peachey, Year 9 for being selected in the Australian Under 14 Squad for Softball.

What an amazing achievement!!

Henry Kendall High school Boccia

On Friday 3 June, the Henry Kendall High School Special Education, Boccia team took part in Round One of the Sydney North Regional Boccia Carnival. A total of 19 schools were competing in this event from both public and high school settings. Henry Kendall High School had been placed in a pool with Brisbane Waters Seconday College - Woy Woy, Tuggerah Lakes Secondary College - Berkeley Vale, Narara Valley High School and Wadalba Community School.

Henry Kendall High School would start with a 5-1 win over BWSC - Woy Woy and following a healthy food break, had a close win against Berkeley Vale High 4-3. Following the lunch break, the students struggled with the might of Wadalba going down 8 to 4 but came back strong in the final round to beat Narara Valley, on the final ball, 4-3.

This placed the Henry Kendall team on 3 wins and a loss, the same number of points as Narara Valley and with the same positive scoring difference of +2. The only way that the teams could be decided was through accounting for who had won the greatest number of ends. It was therefore decided that Henry Kendall High School would march on to play round two on the 10 June 2022.

Congratulations go to all players for their endearing spirit and resilience under the pressure of the tight matches.
