Community Champs

The 2016 MS Walk was held on Sunday 5 June around Albert Park Lake. Despite the rain and cold a hardy group of supporters from Jells Park PS staff and Blackburn PS staff set off for a refreshing walk.  Mr Oakey (and family) led the charge, with Mrs Hoare (and daughters) and Mrs Inglefinger (and friends) joining in. Again, another $1000 was raised to support this vital cause and to support family members who suffer from this terrible disease. Thanks everyone... you are Community champions!!

Buddy Bench

You might have noticed that there is a new rainbow seat at the base of the Friendship Tree, outside the Prep building and next to the Little Kids’ Playground. This new ‘Buddy Bench’ is there for the same reason as the Friendship Tree and adds a splash of colour to the playground.

Kids can sit on the bench if they find themselves in the playground with nobody to play with. This might be because their friends are not at school, they can’t find them in the playground, or they forgot to arrange someone to play with before they went out after snack/lunch eating time.

If students walk past and see somebody on the bench alone, they should go up to them and ask if they want to play. The yard duty teachers will also be able to see students there and will be able to help them find someone else to play with. Students have been made aware that if someone offers to play with them, they need to give it a go. You never know, they might just have found a new group of friends to play with, or a new game they love.
