Jells Park Parents Committee

Hello Everyone

On Saturday 2 July we have the Federal Election. Our School will be one of the polling booths in the local area and we are planning to have an Election Day BBQ on this day. We do however need your help and support for this event to run smoothly and successfully. We need volunteers to assist with setting up, cooking, selling and cleaning up on the day. If you are available and willing to devote some of your time to this event we would be very grateful. Please contact me as soon as possible via email - anikorte@optusnet.com.au or phone 0434146228 and let me know what area you would be happy to help out in and your preferred time slot. We need many helpers to make the event a success. Even if you can help out for just one hour that would be fantastic. Once I have a list of volunteers and I have enough interested people I will organise a roster. A cake stall is on the agenda too on the day of the BBQ. If you help donate a cake/slice/biscuits that would be great. Just make sure to list the ingredients in the cake/slice/biscuits on a piece of paper and attach to the baked goods for food allergy concerns.

School Banking with the Commonwealth Bank is a great way to teach your child the importance of saving. There are also many rewards for students who bank regularly with school banking such as entering competitions and also reward gifts too. With each new bank account opened with school banking our school receives $5 plus 5% of total student deposits is given back to the school through the school banking program. Please support and encourage your child with this worthy program which also benefits the school.

This year we have a new fundraising activity that consists of recycling unwanted goods. It is called Recycle With Mondo for a Better World. The program involves families within the school community donating any unwanted clothes, accessories, shoes, toys and linen to the school. These items are then placed in special collection bins and our school will be paid $250 per tonne for each clothing recycling collection. The benefit of this program is that it reduces waste to landfill and provides global communities with affordable clothing and employment. So now is a great time to clean out your wardrobes in preparation for this great cause and help our school raise some extra funds. This fundraising activity will run throughout the entire year. The next collection date in Term 2 will be June 23. Specially marked bins are located in the office and you can now start placing all of your unwanted items in these bins before the collection dates. PLEASE NOTE - this is not a rubbish dump, so donated items still need to be useable. There has been a huge and postive response to this fundraising activity so far and a very big thank you to the many families that have already donated goods to this special cause. The School has already received $46 so far from the last collection which is a fantastic start. Please keep up the good work and keep donating.

Airstream Cafe at Century City Walk in Glen Waverley has introduced an ongoing fundraising opportunity for our school. By using the Airstream Cafe fundraiser card families will be able to receive 5% discount off their total bill when dining at the cafe. In addition, every purchase that participants make at Airstream Cafe, 5% of the purchase money will be redeemed by Airstream Cafe at the end of each term in the form of a donation towards our fundraising targets for Jells Park Primary School. The Airstream Cafe fundraiser card along with an information flyer have been sent home with the students. This is a wonderful and fantastic opportunity for families to support a local business whilst also assisting our school in reaching our fundraising targets too.We hope you enjoy your dining experience at Airstream Cafe.
