Year 6 Canberra Camp
Two weeks ago the Year 6's went to Canberra Camp for 4 nights and had a blast. It was one of our favourite camps because of all the great activities planned. After a long 10-hour journey, we retreated to our cramped but somewhat luxurious cabins, then had fun doing 'Minute to Win It' which finished with shaving cream and Cheetos! On Tuesday, we went to the Old Parliament House (Australian Electoral Commission), War Memorial, High Court and The Royal Australian Mint. The next day was jam-packed but the best day. We visited Parliament House, Questacon and the AIS (Australian Institute of Sport) and an Embassy Drive. On our final day of activities we went to the Dinosaur Museum, The Art Gallery, The National Capital and Mt. Ainslie, where the view was amazing. We also did a bike ride around Lake Burley Griffin. That evening we held Red Faces (our talent show). Well done to all the participants and a special mention to Livinia and Tahli who did an amazing performance and won!! On Friday, we left the Eaglehawk Holiday Resort (where we stayed). Everyone was excited to come home and share their experiences with their families.
Thank you to Mr. Jenkins, Ms. Little, Mr. Zach, Mrs. De Villiers, Mrs. Hague and our parent helpers.

Year 6 students from our school recently undertook, an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.
The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government contributed funding of $30 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.
