We are so appreciative of 2017 alumna, Abby Christiaans for returning to MFG for the second time this year!!
Abby, one of three sisters who have attended MFG, is a couple of months off finishing her Bachelor of Design (Visual Communication) at Deakin University. Aside from her study, Abby has her own t-shirt label and engages in freelance design work.
Abby so generously gave up her time last week to work with our Year 12 Visual Communications and Design students. In their upcoming SAC, year 12 students need to write about how a design professional works through the design process. To help them with this, Abby presented to students one of the projects she has worked on and talked them through what she did, from receiving the brief through to presenting the finished design.
This was truly a wonderful experience for the students involved. During the session, students not only learned about the design process but also chatted to Abby about her Year 12 folio and shared, with her, their folio ideas.
Thank you Abby for bringing your energy and passion for design to MFG and for encouraging and reassuring the Year 12 students as they work towards completing their folio pieces.

Industry Insights Q&A – careers in law
Hear about career pathways in the legal industry at Ourschool’s Industry Insights live-stream Q&A on Tuesday 1 June.
It will feature public high school alumni (including two local (Geelong) public school graduates) working in different areas of law – family, sports, intellectual property and more.
The speakers will talk about their post-school pathways and share valuable insights into their line of work.
Students will also be able to ask the speakers questions through the live-stream’s chat function.
WHEN: Tuesday 1 June, 12.45pm-1.45pm
WHO: Year 10-12 students interested in a career in law, and Legal Studies students
WHERE: It will be screened in the Library (EG1) and can also be accessed remotely using the link and password

Seeking student questions during the session...
We encourage students to craft a question to ask a speaker during the session. During the session students will be able to type their questions into a question box, and this will be moderated by the hosts. When typing their questions during the session, students remain anonymous and can identify themselves only by their first name and school.
