Visual & Performing Arts Update

Semester 1 is over in what seems to be a whirlwind of SACs, SATs, excursions and performances.

Semester 1 was full of performances. The Certificate III in Music classes have been busy entertaining the community whether it be lunchtime concerts or after school events in the Crate. The year 11 and 12 theatre studies students were filled with excitement this term, presenting their production of “Daisy Pulls It Off”, performed on the 10th and 11th of May. The students used class time and before and after school to rehearse for the big nights, and displayed an energetic and exciting production overall. Coming up next term there will be even more performances and opportunities both at assemblies and College events for students to showcase their ideas and hard work.

We celebrated Arts Week from the 30th of April till the 4th of May. Activities included a drawing lesson, a music concert on the Green, a dance class and much more. This was a great way to get the whole community involved.

There have also been a number of excursions so far this year, from the music students heading to JMC for a talk from the staff from Berklee Academy in America, to Sound Production students heading to SALT studios in Brighton and the year 12 Studio art classes heading to the NGV.

Term 3 is going to be very exciting. As well as more performances there will be some great collaborations with the Quatrefoils team, as well as much more from the whole faculty. We look forward to seeing what the students can create and wish them the best of luck as they continue working towards their finished folio, product or performance for 2018.

We would also like to say a massive thank you to Marli van der Merwe, who has been the interim Learning Area Convenor for the first six months of 2018. Marli has done an amazing job working with staff and student in the Learning Area setting up events, assisting with assessments and so much more work behind the scenes. Thank you very much and all the best for the rest of the year at CRC!
