Talent Quest

Feast Day is such a great day on the College calendar. It is our opportunity to celebrate our community. We finished the day with our annual Talent Quest, showcasing the talent in the school.
This process started last term as the audition panel of Annika Miesen, Alex Hanna and Morgana Jones started sifting through the acts. We had soloists, duos, dancers, singers, bands and so much more audition and the standard was very high. After the final decision was made and months of rehearsal, the Sound Production students working hard behind the scenes setting up instruments and programming lights, and maintenance had setting up scaffolding we finally had the opportunity to see what our performers had to offer.
For the first time ever, Talent Quest was held in the round allowing everyone in our audience a great seat. From the opening introduction from MCs Andrew Granieri and Micheal Martello, through the 15 acts and the now infamous staff act “dancing through the decades” it was a great show. With everything from dances to duos, singers and dancers, instrumentalists and more it was amazing to see the talent at the College on stage being celebrated by the community. The crowd cheered, clapped, snapchatted and used their flashlights to help make it memorable for everybody involved.
In the end, once everything was run and won Pete Vamvakas of B4 was announced winner with his beatboxing act. Thank you to our judges Tenique Borg, Matthew Savasta, Amal Albawab and Steve Woolmer for their feedback and scoring. Special thanks also to Alex Michael and the SYDTV team for their filming of the event. Thank you also to everyone involved in setting up, planning, supervising and running the day. It is always a highlight of the year.

“Talent Quest 2018 was an awesome experience for me, being able to showcase my talents in-front of the whole CRC Sydenham Community is something I will never forget. When the whole school is cheering and supporting you along the way, it makes the moment so much more memorable. To have been able to come out as the winner this year was amazing, but I have to give credit to all performers as they were all amazing as well, to showcase their own talents in front of the extremely supportive school community as well. Talent Quest 2018 was an absolute blast!”

2018 Talent Quest Winner
“ Talent quest is such a great experience to get up infant of a crowd and showcase what you were born to do. Being up on that stage gives me no greater feeling than that. To be able to show case my talent to my peers, teachers, family and friends allows me to grow not only as a performer but gain experience. There’s nothing in this world that can compare the way that I feel once I am up on that stage.”

2017 Winner, 2018 Judge’s Choice Winner
“Working behind the scenes for the 2018 talent quest may have been hard work but it was great to see it all pay off in the end. Seeing the excitement from the audience of all the technical aspects at work really does give you a sense of accomplishment.”

“My experience of Talent quest was one of the most memorable experiences of my time at CRC Sydenham. Andrew and Michael were amazing MCs especially with the way they got the crowd involved. The performances of both year 11s and 12s were outstanding I honestly felt sorry for the judges having to pick a winner, however Pete definitely deserves it.”
