Year 12 - Final IB Examinations

Our Year 12 IB students have begun their final examinations this week. For many subjects, this external assessment contributes up to 80% of the overall achievement for each subject. The practice the students have undertaken over the past two years to prepare for each paper has been so valuable. Our students have faced this final challenge admirably, and while the nerves are no doubt present before each examination, it is evident that our students are well prepared. The IB teaching staff have worked tirelessly toward this goal and their efforts are sincerely appreciated. We have every reason to feel incredibly proud of our inaugural IB cohort, the collaboration between the staff and students has been a wonderful experience for all involved.

Year 11 – Our new Year 12 Cohort

Our Year 11 IB students have put on their senior jackets and begun the final year of their IB course. Mrs Jane Lister, our IB CAS Coordinator, and I met with the students last week to review academic processes specific to the IB. We covered assessment requirements, academic integrity, IB grade determinations and university application processes. The shift for these students moves to completing internal assessment, these are long term projects that are submitted to the IB for assessment. This term, students will begin work on many of their internal assessment tasks, including their Theory of Knowledge Exhibition.

Students are also busy working on their CAS projects. Mrs Lister has responded once again to the changing landscape that COVID restrictions have placed on us to creatively reimagine the CAS project focus, ‘Education around the world’. The students are busy preparing engaging lessons that they will host with our Junior School students in the coming weeks to explore how access to education differs around the world and how the gift of education can transform lives.
