Catholic Identity

Mercy Prayer

We pray for the Sisters of Mercy, who established our school and for the priests who have served at St. Mary’s.

It is through their vision,  determination and strong faith that we enjoy the benefits of a Catholic Education here in Mooroopna.

We are proud to be a Mercy School, where the values of love and justice are taught and lived every day.

Mother’s Day Mass Celebration

Thank you to everyone who made our Mother’s Day Mass a wonderful celebration last Friday!

From the readers and their mums to the choir members who sang beautifully, this was a very special time to remember the wonderful and important role mothers, grandmothers and mother figures play in our lives each day!

A link to the Mother’s Day reflection may be found below:

The choir sang a beautiful song, called “The Blessing” to accompany this presentation, with the cards pictured above handed out to all mothers present.

Sacramental Program

St. Mary’s Sacramental program will commence this term for students in Grade Three and above who have received the Sacrament of Baptism and enrolled in the program. The sacramental process will begin with preparations to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation.

Our Reconciliation program will look different this year.

The students enrolled in the Reconciliation program will gather each Friday at St. Mary’s School from 9.00am - 10.00am in the Music Room to complete the Steps in Faith Reconciliation booklets together, led by Maree Williams, the Parish coordinator of the Sacramental Program and Mrs. Hicks/Mr. Butts. This program will begin on Friday, 28th May.

Over the four weeks, the students will complete parts of the Reconciliation booklet at school and be given set tasks to complete at home with their parents each week.

The students will present their completed booklets to Mons. Peter at one of the masses on the weekend of June 19th/20th before celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation on Tuesday, 22nd June, 2021 at St. Mary’s Church at 6.30pm.

The Parent Information Meeting for the Sacrament of Reconciliation will be held on TUESDAY, 18TH MAY at 7.00pm in the Marian Centre.

Enrolment forms have been sent home to all baptised Grade Three students.

If you would like your child to participate in the Sacrament of Reconciliation program, or any of the other sacramental programs for this year, please contact the school office for an enrolment form or email Mrs. Michelle Hicks via mhicks@smmooroopna.catholic.edu.au

The Sacrament of the Eucharist (First Communion) will take place in Term Three and the Sacrament of Confirmation is to be held on the weekend of October 16th/17th with Bishop Shane presiding.
