Reconciliation Week

Reconciliation Australia’s theme for 2021, More than a word. Reconciliation takes action, 

Reconciliation is a journey for all Australians – as individuals, families, communities, organisations and importantly as a nation. At the heart of this journey are relationships between the broader Australian community and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We all have a role to play when it comes to reconciliation, and in playing our part we collectively build relationships and communities that value Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories, cultures, and futures.

2021 marks twenty years of Reconciliation Australia and almost three decades of Australia’s formal reconciliation process.

National Sorry Day

National Sorry Day is Wednesday 26th May

We will be holding a Sorry Day Liturgy 9.15am in the Marian Centre

Various activities will be held in the classrooms throughout the day and each class will participate in painting rocks or pavers around the garden near the Junior toilets.

Reconciliation Week Activities

We have a variety of activities planned for the students to participate in during reconciliation week.

Dreamtime Story

During the week beginning on Thursday 27th May, an indigenous student from Grade 5 and a FIRE carrier will be visiting each classroom to read a Dreamtime story to the students.

Indigenous Games

Students from ASHE will be joining us to present each class with an opportunity to join in and learn some traditional Indigenous Games on Tuesday, June 1st.

The schedule is as follows:

9.15am - Preps, Grades 1/2

11.45am - Grade 5/6s 

2.15pm - Grade 3/4s 

Breakfast

A Reconciliation Breakfast will be held in the Marian Centre on Friday 4th June commencing at 8am. Our FIRE carriers and Indigenous families have been invited to join us for this special occasion.

Visiting Indigenous Artist

A visit from Tom Day - Indigenous Artist to display his artwork and discuss what he does has been scheduled for Friday 4th June. Each class will join Tom throughout the day.

Tom is Stepfather to Kingy (1/2 MW) and Willow Radevski (3/4 AB). We look forward to welcoming Tom and learning more about his artwork.
