The Spirit of Nazareth Day

Last Thursday 18 August was Nazareth Day. It was a wonderful celebration of who we are as a vibrant and culturally diverse College Community with a key focus on Faith, Wisdom and Knowledge and plenty of fun activities.

Our College is named after The Holy Family of Nazareth - Jesus, Mary and Joseph. We look to them for inspiration.

Mary said 'yes' to God’s will. We, at the College, especially acknowledged this in the Feast of The Assumption School Mass on 15 August. May we be always open to what God wants of us. Mary was a person of great faith, despite the uncertainty and the challenges. May we be people of faith despite the difficulties we may be facing in our lives.

Joseph was a righteous man in the way he lived his life. May we also be righteous in the way we live our lives and always treat others with kindness and respect. Joseph was protector of the Holy Family. May we be people of prayer to ask for God’s protection for our families and may we strive to do our best to support and protect our families.

Jesus grew up with loving parents, who were great witness to God’s love. Jesus spread the message of his Father’s love through word and deed. May we always be loving in the way we treat each other.

The Holy Family had to escape to Egypt for safety. Their living situation was uncertain. At the College, the St Vinnies group is conducting the Winter Sleepout this week to fundraise for, and create, awareness of the homeless.

May the Holy Family always be our inspiration and guide. The Holy Family were always attentive to the will of God through prayer. May all of us always be people of prayer. May we pray for those in our College Community who are struggling with difficult challenges. May they reach out to others for help and may people reach out to them to meet their needs. By helping and supporting each other may we spread the message of Jesus’ love throughout our families and our College community.

Holy Family of Nazareth – Be our inspiration and our guide.

Jesus of Nazareth – Help us to grow in faith, wisdom and knowledge.
