WARATAH BAY CAMP

YEAR 8 CAMP

Waratah Bay Camp - Day 1

A great start to the camp with the weather not being as bad as predicted. After settling in, warm up for the GaGa championships began in the pit.

Following lunch, we all geared up for surfing. The wind settled a little and despite working up a sweat getting out to the waves, we began riding them in. Many showed instant talent and stood up immediately.

After a magnificent roast of pork and lamb, along with ice-cream and fruit, students were placed in their activity teams for the camp and an evening of competitive camp games began. A round robin of challenging ball games, ‘facts about the teachers’ and some impromptu team challenges,  was capped off with supper.

Waratah Bay Camp - Day 2 (Morning)

What better way to wake up than to eggs, bacon and hash browns! Today is a day of team challenges and activities. Students will need to work together to solve problems as well as risk the high swing. Teams are having great fun seeing how high they can lift their friends before being released. After two activities, we paused for a hot chocolate before heading out again. The rope and obstacle course looks easy, but try doing it blindfolded!

Waratah Bay Camp – Day 2 (Afternoon)

It will be a tough call to decide which activity group displayed the best team work, along with lots of outstanding individual efforts.

Everyone was prepared to get out of their comfort zone to give new things ago. A treasure hunt to identify as many insects, plants and wildlife on the beach was treated by calmer weather.

The rock climbing wall was another of today’s favourites. There was plenty of laughter during the initiatives course, where teams had to work together to solve obstacles.

Aeroball was great fun, with many students heading back for more fun on the trampoline before dinner. Tonight’s lasagne was very well earned!
