SCHOOL LEADERSHIP MESSAGE

PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

It has been a jammed packed end to the year this year!

Valedictory Dinner

Congratulations to the graduating class of 2020. After much trepidation about whether we could hold a valedictory this year, we were able to celebrate with staff and students on the 4th December. I would like to especially acknowledge the Brandon family for hosting us at Prom Country Cheeses, we cannot express enough our gratitude for your generosity and hospitality. I would also like to thank Ms Neill and Ms Creaser for putting this event together with the help of the students. Well done everyone. It is always sad to farewell students, this year particularly. The determination and resilience of our Year 12s has been a credit to them and to their families.

Year 8 Camp

Although the weather has not been the best, it was with much excitement that the Year 8 (or Year 9s now as they like to be called) headed off to Waratah Bay for camp. After a year where many excursions and camps have been cancelled, it was fantastic to see this camp go ahead. The photos on Facebook show that an awesome time was had by all. Thank you to Mr Smith and the Year 8 team for organising this, and to parents for supporting the camp.

Year 7 Transition

A lot of fun and learning was crammed into one day on the 8th December when our future Grade 6 students attended for the day. Although initially nervous, everyone left with a smile and enthusiasm for the year ahead. Thank you again to the students who attended, and the teachers who organised and ran this day.

Our 2021 program for 2021 students look like this.

Over the holidays all staff will be switching off and having some down time before 2021. This year, more than any other year, staff have worked through school holidays. Consequently, we will not be available via email until after the 21st January. Any queries that parents have after this date can either be forwarded to us via the parent email address: 7960-parent-support@schools.vic.edu.au or by contacting the General Office on 5655 1566. Education Support Staff are onsite from the 22nd January, but teachers are not back until the 27th January. Mentor interviews for 2021 will be open from the end of next week, 18th December 2020.

Sally Henry

It is with a sad heart we farewell a long term member of our staff and a valued teacher and colleague. Sally is retiring at the end of this year after a long career in education and at Korumburra Secondary College. Sally has taught at KSC for 17 years! Sally ran for many years “A Night to Remember” and we believe, she actually started this tradition. She has been a regular feature since in the School Productions. A dedicated Year 12 English teacher who has seen many Korumburra secondary students pass this course with flying colours. Sally has been a strong advocate for the school and for the staff. She has been a Leading Teacher in charge of curriculum at the school and has been a long standing member of School Council – steering the Finances of the school. On behalf of the school and the school community, we wish her all the very best for this next chapter of her life.

As this is our last newsletter for the year, Happy holidays everyone!
