SCHOOL HATS

Our students spend time outdoors in schools when ultraviolet (UV) radiation levels are at the highest point during the day. Our schools play an important role in assisting students to learn sun protective habits from a young age. Developing these habits and providing sun protective environments in schools can reduce over-exposure to UV radiation and the likelihood of developing skin cancer. Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, with two in three Australians being diagnosed with the disease before age 70, so practicing sun protection methods is vital.

With the assistance of the Victorian Government, KSC has successfully received some funding through the Sun Shade Grant, to help our students undertake sun smart practices. It has been decided that this money will go towards reducing the cost of hats. The students have voted on the style of  hat and also given feedback on the design. Two options of the school hat will be available for students to purchase via compass in order to exercise sun smart practices.

Hats can be purchased via Compass and will be distributed in 2021.
