Father-Son Day

Mr Benjamin Webb

Forty-four sons and their fathers enjoyed a picture-perfect day at Walkabout Creek on Sunday to experience our motto: “spending quality time with your sons in an adventurous environment.”

Fathers were supported in a number of intentional conversations to have with their son/s. Many found the experience both challenging and enriching.

Deep down, all boys have one central question: “Do you love me, Dad?” Some fathers revealed that they have never been told those cherished words by their own father. We drew a line in the sand this day and made sure that the next generation of boys know that they are loved and are intentionally told so by their fathers. It was very powerful to witness and the fathers are to be commended for their courage in undertaking this process.

Thanks to Riverlife for facilitating the adventure component of kayaking and bushwalking.

The boys both big and small enjoyed themselves!

“Really enjoyed meeting some of the other dads and their sons too. But most of all, loved spending a whole day of 1:1 quality time with my son. It was a valuable bonding experience for us both.”

“It was a life experience knowing that by saying what I got to say to my son, that it helps him on his journey to manhood. He will be well equipped to make these type of conversations the norm for the next generation.”

“This was a good time to spend time with my dad and bond with him more.”
