Swimming Carnival

Jove Smith - Slattery Sports Captain

After a hot start to Term 1, the boys were more than relieved to hear about the upcoming interhouse swimming carnival which was held on Tuesday 23 February. The cancellation of the Year 9 and 10 carnivals meant each boy must show up on the day and give their all for their house by participating to the best of their ability. Slattery House had strong swimmers and participation across all age groups and consequently earned an impressive 4th place overall considering recent years. This was as a result of strong performances particularly by Greg Kern who won the Under 16s 50m Freestyle, and Year 12 Slattery who came out undefeated in the novelty Dragon Boat Races. Thanks to all the boys who had a go in the pool to achieve the result we did.

Year 12 Formal

Leo Barbieri-Yates - Slattery Cultural Captain

After 6 years of waiting, the long-awaited formal finally occurred. At 7:00pm, the boys started rolling up to the beautiful Brisbane City Hall. Wearing their best suits and showing off their top-quality manners, and their partners in their best dresses, it was an unforgettable night. The venue this year was a change of scene from past years, being hosted at Brisbane City Hall which for a wonderful venue. The food was absolutely amazing and was soon followed by hours of dancing. Meanwhile, Ms Wandell was taking every opportunity to grab photos of the boys with their partners. Overall it was an amazing night and a great way for Slattery 2021 to kick off the year.

Coin Drive

Reaghan Barratt - Slattery Mission Captain

With Term 1 kicking off and the Mission department having its busiest term, the Lenten appeal was a major focus for the Slattery Family. With our annual Slattery coin line, the contributions to the Lenten appeal started early. The goal for the coin line was to raise $500.00 as a collective house. This goal was smashed, with Slattery House raising a total of $856.00 with patrol group 312 winning the competition. The spirit and generosity that the Slattery boys and families showed was excellent. Alongside this, Slattery ran a soft drink stall on the Lenten Fun Day where contributions from Year 11 and 12 boys were greatly appreciated. A big thank you to all the boys and families for their generosity over the Lenten period.
