Intermediate Interschool Tennis - reports from students

On Thursday 14 February, a team of Year 10 boys, along with the Year 9 girls and Year 9 boys, competed in the Whitehorse Division Intermediate Tennis Interschool, which was held at Boroondara Tennis Centre.

Even though we all played our best, the A team were only able to win 2 sets (Finn and Edwin), and we were unable to proceed to the next round.  Unfortunately for us, Box Hill Senior came out on top overall. Most importantly, we remembered to have fun, which we definitely achieved.

We recommend that the Year 8s and 9s try out for tennis, just to have a hit, or represent Koonung. It's great to try something different away from the regular school routine and attend these competitions.

Thank you to tennis veteran, Mr Tuffnell,  for supervising us and for being our personal bus driver on the day.

Year 9 Tennis Triumph

It was a lovely 23 degree day despite the clouds. The intermediate girls tennis team had been going through their first few games, which went pretty well as we were neither winning nor losing at that point. We were down to the very last game which would determine the fate of our team. It all rested on Amelie's tie breaker in the singles against Blackburn, we soon learned, at this moment,  that we were tied against them. Whoever won that match would go on to Regionals! With that in mind, everyone soon became anxious and there was excitement as we watched and waited. Minutes flew by and everyone had become ecstatic and cheers were coming from both sides. After what looked like an exhausting match, Amelie had managed to win. The excitement wasn’t only on Amelie’s face, it also all spread on all of ours, knowing that we are going to compete in the regionals!
