Chicken Pox - We have been notified of a suspected case of Chicken Pox within the School.

  • Symptoms:  Sudden onset of slight fever, runny nose, feeling generally unwell and a skin rash.
  • The rash usually begins as small lumps that turn into blisters and then scabs. The rash appears over three to four days. Symptoms usually occur two weeks after exposure to the virus.
  • Exclusion from school until fully recovered or for at least 5 days after the rash first appears.

 

Influenza B - It is a contagious disease of the respiratory tract caused by influenza viruses.

  • fever, chills, sore throat, coughing, runny nose and sneezing, fatigue, muscle aches and body aches

It may take one to four days after exposure to the influenza virus for symptoms to develop. If you have the flu, you'll be contagious one day before developing symptoms and up to five to seven days after becoming ill. Younger children may be contagious for longer. 

Spare Clothes

  • If your child(ren) have taken home spare clothes from the First Aid Room, could they be washed and returned promptly as we are running short of spare clothes during this wintery, cold season.
  • We are in urgent need of size 8 generic dark blue tracksuit pants, as spares for the First Aid Room.

Dental Screening – Free Service for Years Foundation, 1 & 2 students

  • Completed forms MUST BE RETURNED TO SCHOOL BY FRIDAY 9TH AUGUST.

Sunbury Community Health is offering a FREE dental service to junior students (Foundation to Year 2) at Woodend Primary School on Wednesdays, 28th August, 4th, 11th and 18th September, 2019. There are no out-of-pocket costs for any child.

 

As part of this program, a dental practitioner will be visiting Woodend Primary School to provide a dental screening and application of fluoride, and discuss developing good dental habits with your child. A report will be provided to your child after the check-up, with information on your child’s screening and whether a further appointment is required.

 

Information packs, including an application form, have been distributed to all Year Foundation – 2 students.
