Keeping our students safe

Each day we put in place policies and processes to support the best possible safety for our students. In 2016 all schools were required to take specific action under the Child Safe Standards that demonstrated, that as a school and community we are committed to protecting children from sexual abuse.

Currently the Department of Education is requiring an overhaul of these processes. Each week I will place a piece in the newsletter that will remind us of the best practices we can implement to uphold child safety.

Although this can be a sensitive and distressing matter, it is important I remind people of their obligation to report to Department of Human Services if you feel a child needs protection from child abuse or if a child is at risk of being harmed. If you feel you cannot make this report then you must always refer it on to the police and/or the school.

Exciting news

We would like to congratulate Mrs. Beaumont and her family on the arrival of their second child, a daughter.

Parent Opinion Survey

Recently our Parent Opinion Survey was sent to a random selection of parents. It is timely that I gently remind people to complete this survey. We appreciate the time it takes but the feedback provided is heavily analysed so we can identify areas of improvement and implement strategies to reach our goals. We sent out 78 surveys and unfortunately we have only received 9 responses. We would love to get 100% return rate.

Emergency clothing

I would like to remind people that at this time of the year it is important to have a spare set of clothing in your child’s bag in case they fall in the mud, have an “accident” etc. If your child has been provided with spare clothes please wash them and return them as soon as possible.

Can you help  ????

During Winter we are always short of spare clothing. If you have any old school uniform you can donate, we would be highly appreciative.

Staffing

On Friday August 16th we farewell Mrs Mills from our Foundation classes. Mrs Mills will be going on family leave. Currently we are going through the recruitment process and hope to announce the replacement teacher in the near future.

Athletics Trials Year 4-6

As promised last week, I have included some photos of our students competing in our Athletics trials last week. Mrs. Connell is currently working through all of the placings to make sure we have our representatives ready for the Cobaw Athletics Event.
