European Students

Welcome to our visiting students from Europe!

European Short Stay Students

This term, the Blackfriars Community has the pleasure of once again hosting boys from Europe.

This year, we have

  • 4 boys from Italy; Matteo Ingrosso, Francesco dal Cero, Ettore Minoja and Federico Petrella
  • 2 boys from Spain; Nicolas de Querol and Carlos Serrano
  • 1 boy from Spain; Mael Gaudillat.

While they did not know each other before arriving at Blackfriars, they have already begun to forge strong friendships amongst themselves and with the other students at the school.

These European students actively participate in daily lessons for 6-10 weeks as well as co-curricular activities. This year, all the boys are active participants in the school soccer teams while one has also become an excellent addition to the senior basketball team. Most of the boys have already attended an AFL match with their respective host families, with some of them enjoying it so much that they have decided to join the school’s AFL teams.

Many thanks to Lucy White and Alison Hellewell, of the Blackfriars Community, for hosting Francesco and Carlos. Thank you, too, to the host parents of all the other boys for helping them to become active members of the Blackfriars Community.   A final thank you to Students of the World for introducing these students to our community.  We look forward to continuing our association with Students of the World and welcoming more of their European visitors to our school next year.
