We have had a very busy few weeks in the lead up to the end of term.  Congratulations to our Solar Car Challenge Team who won the Grand Final held at Murdoch University. Congratulations to our Year 6 team Isabella, Millie, Alex and Josh. Thank you to Mr Darcy, Mrs Crouch and Mrs Jacobs for all of their support with lunchtime practices to develop the skills needed for this competition.

 

School Audit

The Office of the Auditor General (OAG) had 3 auditors at Burrendah for all of last week. They went through Assets, Expenditure, Revenue, Payroll, Cash, Journals, Attendance and Governance (School Board).  The OAG team said it was the best audit they had been involved in and this was repeated by the Department of Education at sign off. Congratulations to Ms Leece, staff and School Board for this exceptional result.

 

P & C Colour Explosion

Congratulations to the P & C for a successful Colour Explosion held on Wednesday afternoon on the school oval. It was a fabulous turnout.  P & C Coordinator Mrs Bree Sherston and her helpers did an amazing job setting up on the day.

ANZAC Service

Our ANZAC Service was held this afternoon.  The students did a wonderful job laying a class wreath as well as listening respectfully to our student leaders through this service.  Mrs Coleman played the Last Post and Reveille beautifully.  The Senior Choir showed their musical skills by singing “A Song of Peace”, “Green Hills of Albany” and “You Raise Me Up”.

Staffing updates 

We will have some changes in staffing for next term as a number of staff will be on long service leave. 

  •  Mr Bradshaw will be on leave for the first 3 weeks. Mrs Robyn Day will be Deputy Principal during this time. Mrs Day has been a deputy at a number of schools including Parkwood PS and Bannister Creek PS.  
  • Mrs Stone from Room 28 will be on leave for Term 2 and the first 3 weeks of Term 3.  Mrs Kiara Duvall will be full-time in Room 28 during this time.  
  • Mrs French will be teaching in Year 6 in Room 2 on Mondays for the rest of the year with Mrs Chow working the remainder of the week in Room 2 for the rest of 2023.  
  • Mrs Muthucumaru, our educational assistant special needs, will be on leave for Term 2 and half of Term 3. 
  •  Mr Crouch will continue on leave with Mrs Bain taking PE on Mondays and Mr Ellis taking PE on Thursdays and Fridays for part of Term 2. 
  • Mrs Nichols will be on leave for the first week.

Business Plan 2022-2024

Our school business plan has been completed and is on our school website.  This plan guides our focus areas. Thank you to Mr Richard Walley for providing permission to use his artwork in the business plan. 

Term 2

Staff will be returning on Monday 24th April. Students resume Wednesday 26th April due to the public holiday on Tuesday 25th April for ANZAC Day.
